At the end of the 18th century Alexander Cozens introduced the idea of “invention of nature” by creating fantastic and evocative landscapes from ink stains poured on the canvas. This “stain” by Fernando Pradilla, in the manner of Cozens, is a rarity in the artist’s oeuvre.
