Didier Petit de Meurville was French vice consul in Alicante from 1848 to 1857 and French consul in San Sebastian from 1857 to 1872. He was an important art collector and also an amateur painter. The lands in which he developed his consular function inspired him in his drawings and oil paintings in which he shows different enclaves and elements of rural and urban architecture that allow to identify views of Alicante, San Juan, Cevillent or in this case the Palmeral de Elche.
