  • Don Quixote telling stories of chivalry

  • In this scene from Don Quixote, Lucas presents Don Quixote surrounded by an audience, in which we only recognise Sancho, who is absorbed in listening to his stories of chivalry during a stop on the road. We have found no record of the author illustrating Cervantes’ novel in any editorial project, so this is probably a free-standing drawing.
