Study of Mary Magdalene at the feet of the dead Christ, for which he used Nicolina (a young Roman girl who also served as a model for Eduardo Rosales) as a model. The resulting painting is today considered his most famous work, a Descent from the Cross preserved in the Museo Nacional del Prado.
